Weeknotes #29 - Lone Parenting Edition

2 minutes reading time

6 Aug - 12 Aug 2018

It has been another crazy-busy week, but looking back each week helps to remind me that there’s still been time for the small, but nice, things. Tuesday was our regular date night, and we went back to a local Indian restaurant, Delhi Divan, and it didn’t disappoint. Great food and friendly staff plus the perfect company, of course.

On Thursday, I spent around 7 hours driving to and from a meeting. It was surprisingly tiring and was frazzled for the evening. The only thing I was able to do was to start building my new Voltron LEGO set.

This weekend, my wife was away, so I got to spend lots of time playing and having fun with my kids. As we’re all big Marvel fans, we got Black Panther and watched that. It was my second time watching it, and it was as good, if not better, this time around.

The only thing that marred the weekend was waking up with a mild headache on Sunday morning, but I powered through to publish another article and made a reasonable Sunday dinner, although my roast potatoes weren’t quite as fluffy for some reason.

Reading Progress

I’m still reading When and on target to finish it next week. I’ve also been reading Murder Games by James Patterson and finished that today. I wasn’t quite sure about it at the start, but I was quite enjoying it by the end and found it hard to put down.

A week in Stoicism

Don’t forget the small wins. Making some incremental progress each day should be considered a victory. Don’t get hung up on perfection, keep moving forward and don’t give up.

”Do now what nature demands of you. Get right to it if that’s in your power. Don’t look around to see if people will know about it. Don’t await the perfection of Plato’s Republic, but be satisfied with even the smallest step forward and regard the outcome as a small thing“ Marcus Aurelius
